Volunteer
Gatekeeper
Stationed at the front reception desk, the Gatekeeper’s role is to welcome guests and show hospitality by cheerfully greeting every person who enters the Sanctuary, answering basic questions about the space, and explaining what is currently being offered in the prayer room. Offering genuine, sincere welcome is the essence of the work.
Gatekeepers may be tasked with opening/closing the building, checking supplies/restocking as needed; restoring order; light clean up.
It is a wonderful volunteer position for someone who likes to read, study, write, etc. Mostly a quiet space where what is needed is a welcoming presence.
Sanctuary Supervisor
The Sanctuary Supervisor (SS) gives oversight to the prayer room when it is open to the public by helping to facilitate the offering of worship, prayer, or sacred space to rest in God’s presence. Being available to pray for people who come in with requests is the most important aspect of this role. Additionally, the SS will begin live streaming or recorded worship sets, prepare for specific prayer or worship events, set up and shut down the sound system, monitor and gently enforce the prayer room guidelines and be a steady presence in the prayer room during their shift. It is possible to study, read, write during the volunteer time if there is not activity in the prayer room. This position is a wonderful opportunity to serve our community by keeping the prayer room open and also affords the individual personal time in a sacred, set apart space for prayer, worship and rest.
