Jo Lisa McKenzie graduated in 1983 from Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in Speech Communication/Marketing and Bible. A native Texan, she has called Kentucky home since 1996 and has resided in Wilmore since 1999. Jo and her husband, Joel, have been married since 1984 and have eight children, and four grandchildren.

In 2000, Jo was called as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ with a passion for prayer. In 2003, she was called to lead the house of prayer under the auspices of the Cornerstone International Board of Directors and was commissioned in July 2004 as Intercessor and Director. In January of 2007, she was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel, acknowledging her authentic and lifetime call to prayer and leadership and the House of Prayer ministry she lead became its own 501c3. In 2014 the ministry was moved to its current location in downtown Wilmore and the name changed to Sanctuary.  Jo has a certification in Spiritual Formation through The Transforming Center in 2020.

 

In 2021, Jo was ordained to the diaconate in the Anglican Church North America and on February 20, 2022 she was Ordained to the Priesthood.  She currently serves as the President of Sanctuary and as an Assisting Priest over Prayer, Spiritual Formation, and Women’s Ministry at Wilmore Anglican Church.
